where is the chelsea market nyc?

The Chelsea Market is one of the best-Free attractions in New York City. A recommended place for a first time visit and an ideal walk if the weather allows it or combine it with other nearby attractions such as the High Line Park or the Meatpacking district.

The building goes back to 1890 and in 1958 it housed the Nabisco factory, where the Oreos cookies were created.

In 1997 it was completely renovated and a market was created that today is very visited by tourist but its also a unique place to have lunch for the locals who work near it.

LOCATION OF THE CHELSEA MARKET
The market is located in Chelsea, bordering on Meatpacking, more precisely on Avenue 9 between 15th and 16th streets.

You can take  following subway lines A, C, E  and L trains and get off at 8th ave / 14 Street station.

It’s open every day of the week from Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The best time to visit it is at noon to make a lunch and try all the delicacies that it has to offer.

Although most of the places are gastronomic, there are several interesting businesses, for example a spice place with delicious aromas, a kitchen supplement business, a gift shop with Chelsea Market merchandising and more!

If you are tempted to eat something sweet, take a walk around the Eleni’s place, their cupcakes are incredible and easily accessible.

The decoration of the place is perfect, a mixture of the old with modern touches that make this place so photographed. It’s walls, its clock, the elevators and the water jet illuminated in multiple colors, all contribute to the beauty of the market.

The Chelsea Market is worth a visit, in less than 30 minutes you can tour it entirely if you do not stop at each location.

Therefore, if you are in the neighborhood and close to the High Line, another of the most visited attractions in the city, you can combine it perfectly.
