While they say that New York is an expensive city there are many attractions and activities that cost $0.

There are times when the budget is not enough to buy on Fifth Avenue, to eat at expensive restaurants or to enter all museums or attractions.

That’s why today we are going to gather a couple of attractions that can be enjoyed without spending a dollar!

 

MUSEUMS
Several museums have free days and others have the suggested payment system (Pay as you wish), the main ones are:

MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art) – Suggested payment until 02/28.
American Museum of Natural History – Suggested payment every day.
MOMA – Free on Fridays from 4pm to 8pm.
Guggenheim – Suggested payment on Saturdays from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.
Morgan Library and Museum – Free on Fridays from 7pm to 9pm.
Whitney Museum of American Art – Suggested payment on Fridays from 7pm to 10pm.
FERRY A STATEN ISLAND
This ferry is an ideal ride to see the Statue of Liberty from afar and the New York skyline.

 

BOTANICAL BROOKLYN
On Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 to 12 pm you can visit this beautiful botanical for free. It has exhibits, gardens and the ideal time to visit it is in April when the cherry trees bloom.

 

SEE THE RECORDING OF A TV SHOW
There are many TV shows that are recorded in New York and the tickets for the public are free, but it is difficult to get them but not impossible.

Some shows are: The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live, The View, The Today Show, etc.

 

THE ZOOLOGICAL OF BRONX
The Bronx Zoo offers pay as you wish every Wednesday.

This is the largest zoo in New York!

 

FREE VIEWPOINTS
If you do not have money to access any of the 3 lookouts in the city another way to have these views is to go to bars that are on terraces, most have free admission you just have to take a drink to enjoy those views.

ROOSEVELT TRAM
If you have an unlimited Metrocard, you can get on the Roosevelt Tram for free (in fact you can already find the unlimited pass payment) and get some beautiful views of the city.

 

Obviously there are a thousand other things to do without spending a penny, a tour of the High Line Park, walk through the different neighborhoods, enjoy the parks and viewpoints that are on the coasts in front of the city, it’s just a matter of finding out.
