What are the best rooftop bars in NYC?

One of the most recommended activities to do at night in New York City is to visit a terrace or rooftop bar. Most of these are found in hotels in the city, although we can also find them in different buildings.

While the best time to visit a rooftop is in summer, there are several that are open all year round so, if we bundle up, we can enjoy beautiful views and hopefully great drinks! Some have dancefloors/ DJ’s and club atmospher and with the ancient dance restrictions at bars banned, you’ll see more dancing at bars.

Generally, admission is not charged to enter, but something must be consumed. Prices vary according to the category of the rooftop, drinks can cost between $10 and $20, and those offering food from $12 and up. I always recommend checking on the their website of each rooftop to see if there is a dress code. Very important.

When offering alcoholic beverages, almost no rooftop allows the entry of children under 21 years. SO, leave the kids under 21 at the hotel!  The views change depending on the location of the rooftop, many are located in midtown, near the Empire State Building to have a view of this iconic building. Some have great views of the river and skyline.

There are companies that offer tours through the different rooftops, in one night you can access several. But here are some free recommendations:

230 Fifth Avenue
Bar Sixty Five in Rockefeller Center
Monarch Rooftop Lounge in the Courtyard by Marriott hotel Herald Square
The Press Lounge in the hotel Kimpton Ink48
The Heights in the hotel Arlo Nomad
The Empire Rooftop & Lounge in the hotel Empire
Le Bain in the Standard hotelBEST PARTY ATMOSPHERE IN A ROOFTOP WITH AMAZING VIEWS, TOP DJS AND POOL!
1 Rooftop in the 1 Hotel Brooklyn.

The best plan for a clear and warm night is to choose one of these rooftops to marvel at how beautiful NY is and have a drink in the light of the moon. Maybe even dance a little 😉
