Central Park is the pulsating green heart of Manhattan, with almost 3.5 km in length, its a must see if you are visiting New York City.
Central Park is so big that it is not easy to cross it completely, so for a first visit I suggest doing the southern part, which goes from 81st Street to the height of the Natural Science Museums and the Met Museum to 59th Street in the south.
There are many attractions in the park so it is difficult to know what to see in it. Here are some suggestions of what to see in Central Park on a first visit to New York. The tour begins in the middle of the park, at the height of the Upper West Side. You can take the subway lines B or C coming down at 81 Street station.
Going south we go through the following points first:
Belvedere Castle (beautiful castle with incredible views)
Loeb Boathouse (Restaurant and boat rental)
Alice in Wonderland (Statue)
Hans Christian Andersen (Statue)
Then, going to the center of the park, we have these other well-known attractions because they are protagonists of several series and films:
Bethesda Fountain
Bethesda Terrace
Bow Bridge (The best-known bridge in Central Park)
Strawberry Fields (Moisaco in homage to John Lennon)
Cherry Hill Fountain
The Mall and Literature Walk
Already reaching almost its southern limit we find a couple of attractions ideal for those who go with children:
Central Park Zoo
Wollman Rink (Ice Skating Rink)
The park has a lot of trails and streets where you can start walking and getting lost but then find your way again, and do not worry because every corner is just amazing.
You have to dedicate at least half a day to do this tour, the ideal time is to start early to take advantage of the daylight.
